Multi is a community for people who self-identify with some multi heritage, such as multiracial, multiethnic, and/or transracial and transnational adoptees.
Multi supports the exploration and navigation of multiple identities that are unaddressed or marginalized in mainstream society. We aim to create a close-knit community in which intersectionality and the complexities of multi-ness are celebrated and explored; this space is necessary at Swarthmore College and in the world.
Multi is for those looking for a home-base community at Swarthmore, as well as those looking for a bridge to other cultural groups; it is for those who have thought a lot about their identity as well as those just beginning to. With regular meetings, discussions, and special events we hope to foster new relationships and create a safe community that emphasizes belongingness and interconnectedness among community members.

Executive Board Members
Kieran Huang
President
Kieran is a sophomore at Swarthmore college from Brooklyn, NY. He had struggled in finding a community that he felt he could both be a part of and that accepted him, until he joined Multi at the beginning of his freshman year. Kieran is committed to making Multi a safespace, home, and resource for all Multi people at Swarthmore. He wishes to make Multi as visible as possible at Swarthmore.
Sierra Sweeney
Vice President
Sierra is a sophomore from Santa Fe, New Mexico, a place were multi identities are prevalent but rarely discussed or uplifted. Growing up, Sierra struggled navigating the layers of her own identity as well as her place in various cultural and racial communities. She was relieved when she came to Swarthmore and finally found a space of clarity and welcome in Multi. Sierra hopes to help Multi continue its great work and expand multi discussions/education on campus while also providing a safe and empowering space for those who have felt isolated by their multi-ness and are still working on their own multi journey as well.
Gene Witkowski
Secretary
A sophomore at Swarthmore College, Gene was born and raised in Queens, NY before moving to Long Island. He began truly reflecting on the significance of race and ethnicity in his life once coming to Swarthmore, and is in the process of navigating the multiethnic identity he has come to claim. Multi has proven to be a safe, inclusive space for him to do so, and while taking advantage of this resource, he hopes to provide the same for others learning to embrace their own unique experiences and tell their own stories.
Adero Kauffmann-Okoko
Social Media Coordinator
Adero is a sophomore at Swarthmore from Pittsburgh, PA. Growing up in an Italian-Bulgarian-Kenyan household, she has been exposed to a multitude of cultures and languages, which has made it difficult for her to define her own identity. Coming to Swarthmore, she found that the community Multi provided is both accepting and curious. She hopes to continue learning and sharing stories and experiences with others in the Multi community.
Alyssa Ogle
Outreach Coordinator
Alyssa is a rising sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri. Because she spent the majority of her adolescence at PWIs, Alyssa struggled to find a space in which she could adequately explore her mixed identity until Swarthmore. At Multi, Alyssa found a space in which she could express the many facets of her mixed-race experience to an incredibly empathetic community. She hopes to facilitate the continuation of Multi as a welcoming and receptive environment with her role as outreach coordinator.
Emma Lee Miller
Treasurer
Emma is a sophomore at Swarthmore College from New York City, New York. She grew up not seeing many multiracial Asian women in her life, which was difficult. Older, she hopes to make multiracial people’s experiences more visible and to examine how multiracial people engage with the world.
